Heat and Cold Stress Awareness
The Heat and Cold Stress Training course prepares workers to recognize, prevent, and respond to the dangers of temperature extremes on the jobsite. Participants will learn how environmental conditions, physical exertion, and inadequate protective measures can lead to serious health issues such as heat exhaustion, heat stroke, hypothermia, and frostbite. The training explains early warning signs, risk factors, and the importance of monitoring both personal conditions and those of coworkers to ensure timely intervention.
In addition to hazard recognition, the course provides practical strategies for prevention and emergency response. Workers will explore best practices such as hydration, rest breaks, protective clothing, and acclimatization techniques for hot and cold environments. The program also emphasizes what to do if someone falls victim to heat or cold stress, including immediate first aid steps and when to seek emergency medical care. By the end of the course, participants will understand how to protect themselves and others, reduce the risks of temperature-related illnesses, and promote a safer, healthier workplace.
