MSHA Part 48a New Miner Training UG 32H (On-demand)

This MSHA Underground New Miner course satisfies the 32-hour classroom training requirement for individuals beginning work in underground mining operations. Built to meet the federal standards set by the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), this introductory training equips new miners with the knowledge needed to recognize hazards, follow critical safety procedures, and operate safely in underground environments.

Participants will receive in-depth instruction on core topics such as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Hazard Communication (HazCom), respirable dust exposure, noise and hearing protection, electrical safety, fire prevention, emergency procedures, basic health awareness, and first aid. The course also includes underground-specific topics such as confined space awareness, ventilation systems, roof control, escape and evacuation plans, and site-specific hazards common to subsurface operations.

This course is designed for new underground miners and contractors entering the industry for the first time. Please note: this training covers only the 32-hour classroom portion of the MSHA Part 48a New Miner requirement. The remaining 8 hours must be completed at the mine site under the supervision of a certified MSHA trainer to meet the full 40-hour training requirement.
