This MSHA 24-Hour Surface Coal New Miner Training course fulfills the federal requirement for new miners beginning work at surface coal mining operations. Developed in accordance with the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Part 48 Subpart B regulations, this comprehensive program provides the foundational safety training needed to work safely and confidently in coal mine environments.

The course covers a wide range of critical topics including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Hazard Communication (HazCom), respirable dust exposure, noise hazards and hearing conservation, emergency procedures, electrical safety, fire prevention, basic health awareness, and first aid. Additional instruction includes miner’s rights, workplace examinations, accident prevention, and site-specific hazards common to surface coal operations.

Ideal for new hires, contractors, and temporary workers, this 24-hour training equips participants with the knowledge and tools to identify risks, follow MSHA-compliant protocols, and respond effectively to on-site emergencies. Upon successful completion, trainees will receive a certificate that satisfies MSHA’s surface coal new miner training requirement.
