Introduction to Crane Safety

The Crane Rigging Safety Training course provides workers with the essential skills and knowledge to safely manage crane operations on the ground. Participants will learn the fundamentals of directing lifts, understanding crane stability, and ensuring efficient, controlled movement of loads. Key topics include the proper use of outriggers and counterweights, recognizing load limits, and preventing common hazards that lead to tip-overs or dropped materials. This training is designed to give both riggers and signalers the confidence to work alongside crane operators while maintaining the highest standards of jobsite safety.

Beyond operational principles, the course takes a detailed look at rigging hardware and communication techniques. Workers will gain hands-on knowledge of sling safety and how to inspect critical components such as shackles, hooks, wire rope clips, end-fittings, and hardware links before each lift. The program also covers the full range of standardized crane hand signals used to coordinate safely between the ground crew and crane operator. By the end of training, participants will be equipped to recognize hazards, ensure proper rigging practices, and contribute to safe, efficient crane operations that meet OSHA and ANSI requirements.
