Electrocution Hazards

The Electrical Hazards in Construction course equips workers with the knowledge and skills to recognize and control one of the most dangerous risks on the jobsite. Beginning with an overview of the critical nature of electrical hazards in the workplace, the course examines the major causes of electrocution, including contact with overhead and buried power lines, faulty wiring, and unsafe use of tools and equipment. Participants will learn how to identify these hazards, understand how they occur, and apply essential precautions to minimize risks in real-world construction settings.

Beyond hazard awareness, the training provides practical strategies for electrocution prevention and emphasizes the shared responsibility of both workers and employers. Key topics include safe work practices around energized equipment, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), lockout/tagout procedures, and maintaining compliance with OSHA regulations. The course also highlights the legal and ethical obligations of employers to provide proper training, safe equipment, and effective safety programs. By the end of the program, participants will be better prepared to prevent electrical incidents and contribute to a safer, more compliant construction environment.
