Designed in full compliance with federal safety standards established by the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), this course prepares miners with the foundational safety knowledge needed to work safely and confidently in mining environments.
The training covers a wide range of essential topics including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Hazard Communication (Haz-Com), respirable dust exposure, noise and hearing protection, electrical safety, fire prevention, emergency response procedures, basic health awareness, and first aid. Additional instruction may include workplace examinations, miner’s rights, accident prevention techniques, and site-specific hazards relevant to surface mining.
Ideal for new hires, contractors, and temporary workers entering MSHA-regulated sites, this 24-hour program is delivered through our easy-to-use online platform or as part of a blended training solution. Participants will receive a certificate of training upon completion, following MSHA’s Part 48 new miner training surface MNM requirements and supporting long-term workplace safety.
Please note: While this course provides a complete 24 hours of classroom instruction, in addition to this 24-hour classroom curriculum, federal regulations mandate that miners must still complete the Introduction to the Mine Environment at their specific mine site before they can begin any work duties. Students and contractors are encouraged to verify site requirements directly with their mine operator.

This course requires 24 total training hours, including approximately 20 hours of guided instructional content and an additional 4 hours for assessments and course activities. Successful completion of this course does not, by itself, guarantee regulatory compliance or qualification for specific jobsite requirements. Total duration is based on structured content delivery and is rounded accordingly; actual completion time may exceed and does not account for individual pace, time spent on questions, or technical factors such as loading times.
