What the course covers

The course provides awareness-level instruction on representative topics such as:

• Recognizing, avoiding, and preventing common workplace hazards

• Walking and working surfaces and fall awareness

• Electrical safety fundamentals

OSHA establishes the required Outreach topics, while the authorized trainer or course provider delivers the approved course. This course does not replace employer-specific instruction, job-specific training, or site-specific hazard orientation.

Certificate, OSHA card, and validity

After you complete the required course work and assessments, the enrollment provider will explain the available course completion documentation and any OSHA Outreach student card process. The applicable OSHA-authorized trainer issues an Outreach student course completion card; OSHA does not issue the card directly. An OSHA Outreach student course completion card is not a professional certification or license. OSHA says Outreach cards do not expire, but an employer, worksite, state, union, or other organization may set its own training, refresher, or acceptance requirements.
